Low Level Cold Laser Therapy

Low Level Cold Laser Therapy   erchonia laser 2_1.jpg

Cold laser, often referred to as LLLT (low level light therapy), is the application of low power coherent light to injuries and lesions in order to stimulate healing.  Cold Laser (LLLT) is used to increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair, resolve inflammation, increase range of motion and give pain relief.
Erchonia Medical is the leading researcher on cold lasers and they are the first company to be granted FDA approval for laser use.  In our office we use only Erchonia lasers.
Cold laser therapy is a major advancement in healing and is rewriting the medical books on what is possible for chronic injuries, pain management, neurological impairment, and facilitating the healing process in disease conditions.

How does cold laser Work ?

Hot lasers are used for precision surgeries while cold lasers are used for precision healing.  The wavelength (635nm) of the cold laser has been shown to produce an interaction with the tissues on a cellular level. Research has shown that the cells of our body actually communicate with each other through coherent light of this specific wavelength.  Photons from the laser affect the tissue at the cellular level, altering the cell membrane's permeability and the photons are absorbed into the mitochondria.  The mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cells and produce ATP which is needed for the life enhancement process of every cell which facilitates:

  • Rapid cell growth. The laser accelerates cellular reproduction and growth.
  • Faster wound healing. The laser stimulates fibroblast development in damaged tissue. The reduction in recovery time is a very important consideration.
  • Increased metabolic activity. The laser helps the body increase the output of specific enzymes. THE LASER INDUCES GREATER OXYGENATION TO BLOOD CELLS AND MORE EFFECTIVE IMMUNE RESPONSE.
  • Reduced fibrous tissue formation. The laser reduces the formation of scar tissue following tissue damage form cuts, scratches, burns or following surgery.
  • Anti-inflammatory action. The laser reduces swelling caused by bruising or inflammation of joints to give improved joint mobility.
  • Increased vascular activity. The laser stimulates lymph and blood circulation, to allow the affected tissue to have the best possible circulation.
  • Stimulates nerve function. Slow recovery of nerve function in damaged tissue can result in "dead" limbs or numb areas. Laser will speed the process of nerve cell reconnection to bring the numb areas back to life.

erchonia_laser_3.jpgWhat are the advantages over other modes of therapy?

The Erchonia Laser has been found to offer superior healing and pain relieving effects when compared to other electrotherapeutic modalities.  The results are equally untouchable for early stages of acute and also chronic injuries.  Erchonia LLLT is a universal method of treating muscle, tendon, ligament, connective tissue, bone, neurological dysfunction or damage, and skin tissue with one piece of equipment.  When the laser is applied with Chiropractic care the best results are achieved to organize the nerve system and promote healing.  There is a major benefit for athletes in the extremely fast results that can be achieved.

Low level therapy is popularly used for :

  • Soft Tissue Injuries
                Sprains & Strains
                Hematomas
                Tendonitis & Tenosynovitis
                Capsulitis
                Bursitis
  • Chronic Back Pain
  • Myofascial Trigger points
  • Acupuncture points & Meridian Balancing
  • Acute & Chronic Joint Problems
                Osteoarthritis
                Rheumatoid Arthritis
                Ligament Injuries
                Chondromalacia Patella
  • Reduction of Inflammation
  • Wound Management
                Burns
                Diabetic Ulcerations

  • Metatarsalgia
  • Trigeminal Neuralgia
  • Brachial Neuralgia
  • Plantar Fascitis
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Bone healing
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Fibromyalgia
  • And many more!!!

Please Note: The Erchonia Therapeutic Laser will not burn or damage tissue no matter how long it is applied

Q. How does Low Level Laser (3LT®) work?

A. Photonic stimuli excite the body's cells infusing them with energy, with the three primary reactions being, reduction of inflammation, cell regeneration and increased blood flow.

Q. What are the benefits of low-laser therapy?

A. Low Level Laser Therapy is a noninvasive, fast and effective modality that has been proven in clinical trial to reduce pain, reduce edema and promote healing.

Q. How safe is Low Level Laser Therapy?

A. Low Level Laser Therapy has is very safe, the only general precaution is the use of special filtering glasses when a class 3B laser is in use.

Q. How deep into the tissue can laser light penetrate?

A. The depth of penetration is dependent on multiple factors including mass and density, however since low level laser has been proven in clinical study to effect subcutaneous cells; the point is low level laser, does penetrate; as opposed to the heat lamp devices that do not.

Q. What the difference is between pulsed vs. constant wave?

A. Like their names imply, constant wave is a continuous emission of laser energy, without disruption, for the length of time the device is ON.  Pulsed wave is controlled breaks in the wave, at predefined and programmed intervals.

Q. What is hertz as it relates to Low Level Lasers?

A. The predefined, controlled breaks in the laser emission, measured by the number of breaks per second, equals hertz.

Applications

Q. Is Low Level Laser Therapy painful?

A. No, most people do not feel anything, for those that have reported a feeling, it is nothing more than a slight tingling.

Q. How is Low Level Laser Therapy administered?

A. The mechanics of how low level laser therapy is administered is based on the indication for use, however; the general process is the probe containing the laser diode(s) are held in place or moved gently over the treatment area at a distance of anywhere from 4" - 12."

Q. How long does it take for the laser to heal or improve a condition?

A. This is dependent of the application, however; progress is immediately evident.

Q. What's the difference between Lasers vs. LED?

A. Erchonia 3LT® devices used electric diodes, which are high end, culminated and strictly measured within a plus/minus .05%.  LEDs are inexpensive, non-focused wide range light sources.  The primary difference is in performance and depth of penetration, Laser diodes penetrate, working subcutaneously, LEDs do not affecting surface only .

Testimonials

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "I was very impressed with the chiropractic care I received from Dr. Anderson. I had received chiropractic in the past for my neck pain, but not to this level of care. After only a few sessions, my symptoms began to disappear, especially my neck pain, and I know I would not have been able to perform to my everyday work functions without the treatment I received."
